The “Strings in Motion” Academy meets again the International Kalamata Music Days
In context of the 3rd “International Kalamata Music Days” Festival, the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata, collaborates again with the Greco-Austrian String Academy of Christos Kanettis, “Strings in Motion”.
This collaboration is part of the continuation of the artistic exchange between the “International Kalamata Music Days” Festival and the Greco-Austrian Music Summer, which is brought to us by the Austrian Embassy in Athens and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic.
One concert is going to be held on the 28th August at Costa Navarino, with the support of the Captain Vassilis & Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation, and two are going to be held in Kalamata.
The first concert in Kalamata will take place on the 29th August 2019 at 21:00 o’clock at Kalamata’s Castle Amphitheatre with the string orchestra of the academy performing works by I. TZANAKOS, P. I. TSCHAIKOWSKI, W. A. MOZART and N. ROTA. The second concert will be held on the 30th August 2019 at 21:00 o’clock at Kalamata’s Dance Megaron (Main Stage) with chamber music works by W. A. MOZART, L. V. BEETHOVEN, A. DVORAK, J. BRAHMS, S. HAVRYLYUK, M. SKORYK και B. SMETANA.
The concerts are with free entrance.
Masterclasses and workshops are already happening since the 17th and until the 24th August in Mani (Mani Sonnenlink) and are going to continue in Kalamata from the 25th until the 31st August (Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata).
The string academy “Strings in Motion” is an innovative project that combines masterclasses, workshops and concerts under one roof and gives the audience as well as the participants a unique insight into the creative process of musical interpretation. The masterclass is addressed towards students and graduates of violin, viola and violoncello and aims to widen the young musicians’ repertoire, but also to promote their technical abilities, musical knowledge and skills in chamber music playing. The tutors and the students are appearing on stage together and the musical works are often being presented by the masterclass participants themselves. Through those aspects of the academy, the young artists are gaining precious and unique stage experience.
Centre of the project is the State Conservatory in Innsbruck, Austria, as well as the Music University Mozarteum in Salzburg and it is held twice a year: the summer in Greece, with the support of the Austrian Embassy in Athens and during the winter/spring in Toblach, North Italy, with the support of the Tyrolean and South Tyrolean Government. Since 2015, it is generously supported by Dr. Martha Walther-Bauer and by Arianne Condellis.
Part of the project is the active artistic exchange in context of Euregio (Tyrol, Southern Tyrol, Trentino, Southern Bavaria), but also international collaborations with Mexico and Ukraine.
Artistic direction: Christos Kanettis and Anita Mitterer
